Russia’s Rosneft has signed a contract with Ghana National Petroleum Corp. to deliver 1.7 mtpa of LNG to the Ghanaian port of Tema for the next 12 years.

The LNG will be regasified at the Tema terminal.

The gas supply contract, which is expected to cover one-quarter of the country’s energy demand, resolves some uncertainty over Ghana’s LNG sourcing arrangements following the tabling of three separate projects, none of which have yet been actioned.
