Pakistan claims $138 mln in damages over LNG-to-power delays

Pakistan is claiming damages from Chinese contractors and their local partners for delays in commissioning LNG-to-power projects in Punjab province.

Pakistan is claiming more than PKR 16 billion ($138 million) in damages from Chinese contractors and their local partners for delays in commissioning two 1.2 GW LNG-to-power projects in Punjab province, the Dawn newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The projects were slated to start commercial operations by December 2017 or January 2018 but have been delayed, limiting the use of Pakistan’s regasification terminals and leaving LNG importers facing demurrage charges.
