LNG accounts for almost 10% of Panama Canal traffic – report

LNG tankers have accounted for 339 of the 3,421 vessels that have passed through the Panama Canal since the Central American waterway was expanded in June 2016, Bunkerspot has reported, quoting statistics from the Panama Canal Authority.

Cargoes from the United States accounted for 83% of the LNG transiting the canal between June 2016 and March 2018, followed by Trinidad & Tobago (11%) and Peru (5%).
