Philippine company First Gen is looking to create a gas pricing index linked to coal prices, according to Philippine newspaper the Manila Bulletin.

The company’s chief operating officer, Francis Giles B. Puno, is aiming to create a gas price that will be related to power demand rather than oil.

The company is planning to build a 5 mtpa LNG terminal and wants to keep the price of the gas it imports competitive with that of domestic output.
