Total has bought a 25% stake in California-based Clean Energy Fuels, which operates a network of CNG and LNG truck-fuelling stations.
The French giant paid $83.4 million for the shares, and will provide up to $100 million for a leasing programme that will place “thousands of new gas heavy-duty trucks on the road and fuelling at Clean Energy stations”, according to a statement.
The companies expect to launch the programme in Q3 2018.
