Chinese company to build coal power plant in Bangladesh

A subsidiary of China Huadian Corp. has signed a deal to build a 1.32 GW coal-fired power station in Bangladesh as China aims to help its energy-hungry neighbours build their coal-fired capacity while shedding its own, according to Caixin Global.

The company signed a deal with Bangladesh Power Development Board on Sunday to form a joint venture that will be in charge of constructing the plant.

The plant will be built in the southeastern coastal city of Cox’s Bazar near the border with Myanmar.
