Ukraine’s plans to reduce its dependence on imported gas by 2020 found little support from the data released by transmission system operator Ukrtransgaz on Monday. 

State-owned Naftogaz Ukrainy said in May last year that it wanted to achieve independence from gas imports by 2020 and to start exporting gas in the same year. It planned to do this by increasing gas production from 20 billion cubic metres per year to 27-28 bcm/y, and by decreasing gas consumption from 33 bcm/y to 27-28 bcm/y.
