Petrochemicals major Ineos has started a legal challenge against the Scottish government’s decision to convert a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing into an indefinite ban.

The case will be discussed for four days at the Court of Session in Edinburgh. The Scottish Parliament introduced the ban in October 2017 after the moratorium was set in 2015.

Ineos claims the Scottish government exceeded its powers in imposing the ban.
