Chinese gas consumption up 10%

China’s gas consumption increased by 9.8% year on year in the first three months of 2018.

China’s gas consumption increased by 9.8% year on year in the first three months of 2018, to 71.2 billion cubic metres, Li Fulong, director of planning and development at the National Energy Administration (NEA), said on Tuesday.

Demand for city gas grew the fastest, at 23%, followed by power sector demand, which was up by 12%, and industrial demand, which increased by 2%.

Use of gas by the chemicals sector declined by 15%, according to the NEA.
