Chinese gas companies in the LNG distribution sector suffered in July, with investors pessimistic about the prospects of them passing on higher prices to users in the wake of China’s city-gate gas price reforms.

An Interfax portfolio of 34 gas companies listed on the Hong Kong, Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges slipped by 1.56% between 1 July and 1 August, while both the Standard & Poor’s 500 and Hang Seng Index rose by more than 6% over the same period.
