Sempra Energy’s Mexican subsidiary, Infraestructura Energetica Nova (IEnova), is scaling back plans for a liquefaction plant at Mexico’s Energia Costa Azul LNG terminal on the Baja California peninsula, according to Natural Gas Intelligence.

A 2.5 mtpa export facility could be ready by 2023, while a larger 11-12 mtpa plant would not be ready until 2025-2028, Sempra LNG President Octavio Simoes was quoted as saying.

IEnova said in February that it had made “significant progress” on the project.
