State-owned Coal India and its subsidiaries will no longer need to apply for licences to extract CBM from domestic coal blocks, the Indian government said on Wednesday.

Delhi said the decision would expedite the exploration and exploitation of CBM, enhance gas availability, and reduce supply shortfalls.
