The Djibouti LNG project is expected to generate nearly $1 billion of export revenue for Ethiopia in its first year of operation, and the figure will increase in future years, the state-run Ethiopian Herald newspaper cited Ethiopian mining and petroleum minister Motuma Mekassa as saying on Wednesday.

China’s Poly-GCL Petroleum Group has discovered 196-224 billion cubic metres of gas in the Ogaden Basin.

The company plans to pipe output to a 10 mtpa LNG plant in Damerjog in eastern Djibouti.
