Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič discussed the future of Ukrainian gas transit in a telephone conversation on Wednesday, Interfax has reported.

Novak confirmed Russia’s commitment to continue using Ukraine’s transit system after 2020 and said a bilateral meeting with Šefčovič will be held.

“In particular, [the] readiness of Russia to consider the possibility of engaging the Ukraine’s gas transport system after 2020 was noted subject to feasible and competitive conditions of its use," Novak reportedly said.
