China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) has started injecting gas into its 23 underground gas storage (UGS) depots, the company said on Monday.
The sites supplied 7.4 billion cubic metres over the last winter, 21% more on an annual basis, and CNPC plans to inject an extra 700 million cubic metres this year. CNPC has supplied 35 bcm from its UGS facilities since they started up nearly 20 years ago.
