Bangladesh’s Ministry of Power has recommended hiking gas prices.
It suggested increasing prices by 300% for fertiliser manufacturing, by 206% for power generation, by 93% for industrial fuel uses and by 25% for CNG, the New Nation newspaper reported on Friday.
Qatari LNG imports are expected to start supplying the country’s grid this month and will cost more than BDT 25 per cubic metre ($8.45/MMBtu).
Bangladesh’s gas price will increase to BDT 12.80/cm after the imports start, up from BDT 7.39/cm.
