Finland has given its approval for the Nord Stream 2 pipeline to be laid within the country’s exclusive economic zone, Gazprom said in a note on Thursday.

The development company still needs a second permit from the Finnish government, which is expected to be granted within the next few weeks, the Russian major said.

Nord Stream 2 has already received the required permits from Germany, but is waiting to receive consent from Sweden, Russia and Denmark.
