Renewables produced the equivalent of 99% of Portugal’s power consumption in March, the highest level since February 2014, state-owned transmission system operator REN said in a note on Monday.

Renewable generation exceeded consumption for almost 60% of the month.

Renewables supplied 61% of Portugal’s power during Q1 2018, with wind providing 31%, hydroelectric 24%, biomass 5% and solar 1.1%.

Fossil fuels supplied the remaining 39%, with gas providing 22% and coal 17%.
