PetroChina’s Southwest Oil & Gasfield subsidiary expects to produce 4.1 billion cubic metres of shale gas in 2018, according to parent company China National Petroleum Corp.

The subsidiary is currently producing 7 million cubic metres per day at the Changning-Weiyuan blocks and will add 1.96 bcm/y of new shale gas production capacity this year.

PetroChina produced 3.02 bcm of shale gas in 2017, up by 6.1% year on year, and aims to produce 12 bcm/y by 2020, up from a previous target of 6.0-6.5...
