European LNG imports rise by 12% in 2017

European LNG imports increased by 12% year on year in 2017, according to the European Commission’s quarterly gas and power market report

European LNG imports increased by 12% year on year in 2017, according to the European Commission’s quarterly gas and power market report, which was released last week.

The rise came despite a sharp decline in the UK and Belgium, where imports fell by 38% and 40% respectively.

Imports increased in Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Poland, among other countries.

LNG imports increased by 16% in Q4 2017 compared with the same period in 2016, the report said.

EU gas demand increased by 6% year on year.
