Mexico has awarded nearly half of the 35 oil and gas blocks tendered in a round held on Tuesday, Reuters has reported.

State-run Pemex won seven blocks in the 16 areas awarded by authorities, either alone or in consortiums.

European firms Total, Cepsa, Repsol, DEA Deutsche Erdoel and Premier Oil also won acreage.
