Both gas consumption and carbon dioxide emissions rose in Europe in 2017 compared with the previous year, according to a report published by the International Energy Agency (IEA) this month.
“Emissions in the EU grew by 1.5%, adding almost 50 mt of CO2 – reversing some of the progress made in recent years – mainly due to robust growth in oil and gas use,” the agency said in the report.
