Gas consumption in the central Chinese province of Henan increased by more than one-quarter last year, far outpacing growth for the country as a whole, as the local government encouraged coal-to-gas (CTG) switching in line with Beijing’s demands for cleaner air.

Seven cities in Henan with a combined population of around 35 million people were among 28 urban areas in northern China that were pushed by central authorities to accelerate CTG conversions for households and factories during the past winter.
