Gazprom's gas exports rise on cold snap in Europe

The cold weather that hit Europe in early March caused a bump in Gazprom's gas exports.

Gazprom’s gas exports jumped by 29% in the first half of March as a result of continuing cold weather in Europe.

Gazprom exported 9.7 billion cubic metres of gas in the first 15 days of March, 29.4% more than in the same period last year, Interfax reported.

The surge in exports was attributed to a late-season cold snap across Europe, which continues to spur demand for Russian gas. Exports to Germany increased by 11.1%, or 1.3 bcm, while exports to Austria rose by 90.5%, or 1.3 bcm....
