The Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline, a proposed 4,400-km link to connect Nigeria to Spain via Niger and Algeria, is likely to miss its scheduled 2020 startup date, a source close to the project told Nigerian newspaper The Guardian.

An agreement to build the pipeline was signed in 2009 but the project is still awaiting FID, Adamu Umar, chief infrastructure officer of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission is reported to have said.
