Italian transmission system operator Snam has said it will invest €5.2 billion ($6.4 billion) between 2017 and 2021, an increase of 4% from the €5.0 billion announced a year ago.

Snam invested €1.0 billion of the declared sum in 2017, and the remainder will be used mainly to continue developing Italy’s gas grid and interconnections with other European networks, including the completion of the reverse-flow project across the Alps and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, the company said.
