RWE, Germany’s largest electricity producer, is considering buying coal- and gas-fired power plants from its competitor Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg, anonymous sources close to the two companies told German business newspaper Handelsblatt on Monday.
The deal may be worth €1 billion ($1.24 billion). RWE reached a preliminary agreement with German utility E.On last week that will transform RWE into Europe’s second-largest producer of renewable energy.
