Chinese company Xinjiang Beiken Energy Engineering Co. has started drilling a well in Ukraine’s Poltava region for the country’s state-owned Ukrgazvydobuvannya, the Ukrainian News Agency reported on Tuesday.
The two companies signed contracts in September 2017 to drill 24 wells for UAH 1.93 billion ($2.39 billion).
Ukrgazvydobuvannya is aiming to increase its gas production from its current 15 billion cubic metres per year to 20 bcm/y by 2020.
