The LNG shipping market saw a strong recovery in 2017, shipping services provider Clarksons said in its year-end results.
The spot freight rate for a modern dual-fuelled vessel averaged $54,400 per day in the second half of 2017 compared with $37,700 in the first half. Strong Asian demand led to a sustained East-West arbitrage and firmer rates.
The average distance travelled by each cargo increased by around 3%, to around 7,270 km.
