China is planning to create an energy ministry to oversee its oil and gas sector, Reuters reported on Friday.

Legislative responsibility for the energy industry is currently divided between the National Energy Administration (NEA), the Ministry of Land Resources, the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, according to Beijing-based investment bank Everbright Sun Hung Kai.
