Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on Friday that Kiev may seize Gazprom’s assets in Ukraine if the Russian company refuses to abide by the ruling of the Stockholm arbitration tribunal.

Poroshenko said a team of lawyers is working on recovering the relevant sums, Interfax reported.

“Therefore, if Gazprom doesn’t pay the compensation, we will be seizing its assets,” Poroshenko said.

The tribunal ruled last week that Gazprom owes Kiev €2.56 billion ($3.15 billion) in lost transit fees. Gazprom has appealed against the ruling.
