Peter Navarro, director of the White House National Trade Council and a top adviser to United States President Donald Trump, said on Sunday that some businesses could obtain exemptions from a plan to impose tariffs on steel and aluminium imports, Reuters has reported.

US energy industry officials have raised concerns about the proposed tariffs because most of the steel used to make pipes for interstate oil and gas pipelines is imported.
