The first LNG cargo has departed Dominion Energy’s Cove Point plant, according to ship tracking data.

The cargo was loaded on the Shell-owned Gemmata LNG tanker, which left the plant on Friday. The destination of the cargo is unknown.

The start of exports from the facility follows the startup of the Sabine Pass plant. Shell has made an agreement with Dominion Energy to take the plant’s commissioning cargoes.
