The UK is facing a gas shortage as a result of the severe cold weather hitting the country, transmission system operator National Grid has said.

The UK is facing a gas shortage as a result of the severe cold weather hitting the country, transmission system operator National Grid has said.

It issued a “gas deficit warning” at 5am on Thursday, forecasting that supplies of gas for the day were projected to be 49.5 thousand cubic metres (Mcm) below the country’s projected demand of 395.7 Mcm.
