Shell signs deal with Sovcomflot for two LNG-powered tankers

Shell has signed a long-term time-charter agreement with Sovcomflot for two LNG-powered Aframax tankers.

Shell has signed a long-term time-charter agreement with Russia’s largest ship builder, Sovcomflot (SCF), for two LNG-powered Aframax tankers that are under construction, the shipping company said in a press release.

“This ‘Green Funnel’ series of [1A] ice-class 114,000-[ton] tankers will operate within Shell’s extensive global freight trading network,” SCF said.

The vessels will also use Shell’s specialised LNG bunker vessels, such as the Cardissa, for fuelling in Northwest Europe.
