The European Commission has ruled that the certificate schemes for renewable electricity and cogeneration in the Belgian region of Flanders are in line with EU state aid rules, it said on Friday.
Under the scheme, renewable electricity producers receive one ‘green certificate’ for each MWh they generate. Meanwhile, under the combined heat and power scheme, high-efficiency cogeneration plants receive one certificate for each MWh of energy they save.
