The number of rigs targeting gas in the Middle East ticked up to 93 in January from 92 in December. Declines in Egypt, Oman and Pakistan were offset by an increased number of rigs targeting gas in Saudi Arabia, where the rig count stood at 57 in January. Eni’s exploration of Block 6 offshore Cyprus caused the overall number of rigs in operation to rise by one.
