India’s state-run NTPC has emerged as the successful bidder to supply 300 MW of power to Bangladesh, according to LiveMint.

The move is part of India’s strategy to increase cross-border infrastructure and form closer ties with its neighbours. NTPC will supply electricity to the Bangladesh Power Development Board, which selected the company over Adani, PTC and Sembcorp.

Supplies will start in June 2018 after the commissioning of a 400 MW HVDC interconnection between the two countries. India currently supplies 660 MW of power to Bangladesh,...
