Around $28 billion of investment will be approved between now and the end of 2020 to develop resources across Southeast Asia amounting to 4 billion barrels of oil equivalent (bboe), new analysis shows. 

Oslo-based oil and gas consultancy Rystad Energy, which carried out the study, said the forthcoming FIDs will be heavily weighted towards gas, which makes up 85% of the resources it identified. Fifty fields are expected to receive an FID, the majority of which are in Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam.
