Most of the new oil and gas wells sunk in the United States in 2016 were hydraulically fractured and horizontally drilled, according to a report published by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Tuesday.
The EIA’s data shows horizontally fracked wells accounted for 69% of all oil and gas wells drilled in the US and 83% of the linear footage drilled over the year.
