France and the Netherlands are still lagging behind other EU nations in rolling out renewables in their energy sectors, EU data shows.
Data published last week by the EU’s statistical agency, Eurostat, showed EU countries derive an average 17% of their final energy consumption from renewable sources such as wind and solar. The Netherlands and France were still the furthest from their national targets, of 14% and 23% respectively.
