MEPs have raised concerns over the European Commission’s proposed extension of the EU Gas Directive to pipelines from third countries, which they say is happening too fast and without a proper impact assessment. 

A letter sent last week by Italian MEP Stefano Maullu of the centre-right European People’s Party (EPP) – the largest political group in the European Parliament – and addressed to a number of EU executives said more time was needed to scrutinise the commission’s proposal and its impact.
