Petrochemical company Ineos said on Tuesday that it will challenge the Scottish government’s ban on shale developments in Scotland, which the company considers "unlawful".
Ineos and its co-venture partner Reach Coal Seam Gas have lodged a petition for judicial review of the ban.
"We have serious concerns about the legitimacy of the ban and have therefore applied to the court to ask that it review the competency of the decision to introduce it," Tom Pickering, operations director at Ineos Shale, said in a note.
