Urumqi, the capital of western China’s Xinjiang region, will switch to gas and electricity for heating, state-run Xinhua news agency reported on Saturday.

More than 19,000 coal-fired heating facilities in the city’s suburbs will be replaced with clean energy heating by the end of this year.
