China imported a record 5.1 mt of LNG in December, up by 38.3% year on year, while imports for 2017 increased by 48.4%, to 37.9 mt, S&P Global Platts said in a release on Thursday.
Japan’s imports increased by 2.3%, to 81.6 mt, while South Korea’s purchases expanded by 10.8%, to 36.5 mt.
Taiwanese volumes increased by 11.0%, to 16.3 mt. Imports for the four countries grew by a combined 12.7%, to 172.3 mt.
