China could overtake Japan as the world’s biggest importer of gas in 2018, according to Reuters.

Chinese imports exceeded those of Japan in September and November 2017, and if the strong growth continues through 2018 China could become the world’s biggest importer.

Japan will remain the world’s biggest importer of LNG, but in 2017 China surpassed South Korea to become the second-largest importer of the fuel.
