Sichuan province in southwest China produced 3.02 billion cubic metres of shale gas in 2017, the Sichuan Daily newspaper reported on Thursday.
The volume exceeded planned production by 200 million cubic metres (MMcm) and accounted for about one-third of national shale output, which implies China produced around 9 bcm of shale gas last year.
