Spanish gas demand up 9% in 2017 – Enagás

Spain’s demand for gas grew by about 9% in 2017 compared with 2016, reaching 351 TWh.

Spain’s demand for gas grew by about 9% in 2017 compared with 2016, reaching 351 TWh, according to Spanish transmission system operator Enagás.

Last year was the third in a row that the country’s gas consumption had increased. The result beat a forecast annual growth rate of about 2% made at the beginning of the year.

The industrial sector was the main consumer of gas, with offtake increasing by 7% to account for about 60% of demand.
