Beijing has met its air pollution reduction target for 2017, the city’s environmental agency said in a statement on Wednesday.

China set a target to reduce PM2.5 concentrations in Beijing to less than 60 micrograms in 2013 as part of a crackdown on poor air quality in the city.

A sustained period of favourable weather and switching from coal-fired power to gas helped Beijing achieve its target.
