Yamal LNG ships first cargoes

The Novatek-operated Yamal LNG project in the Russian Arctic has shipped its first cargoes.

The first was loaded onboard the ice-class tanker Christophe de Margerie on Friday in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and is now bound for a European port, China National Petroleum Corp. has announced.

The vessel is carrying 170,000 cubic metres of the fuel. The second cargo is aboard the Boris Vilkitsky.
